Made from a recycled skirt found at a thrift store lined with potato sack cloth and embellished with modern Amy Butler fabric. (Made this one for my daughter)

Mod Apron Finally Finished

It's hard to take a picture of yourself with no tri-pod and sub par lighting. Anywho I just wanted to show how it looked on. This apron can be worn high or around the waist and because it has extra fabric gathered in the front it would make an excellent preggy apron to cover the baby bump. It's fully lined for extra protection against any food or craft shrapnel.

No Sew Tutu Tutorial

Step One: Choose the color(s) of tulle you want. I have four colors shown. You will need for an 18 to 20 inch waist at least 4- 8 yards of tulle depending on waist and length of desired tutu. If you are making an adult tutu you may need 12 + yards . The easiest method is using coordinating satin ribbon, the slipperyness of the satin makes it's easier to tie the tulle on . You can also use elastic, I prefer 1/4". For elastic measure waist, cut the elastic to exact size and after all tulle is knotted on and measurements add up right overlap remaining ends an inch if possible and sew by hand. Knot tulle over bare elastic.

Step Two: Cut out your tulle to your desired length in 6 or 3-inch wide strips. If you want a more flamboyant tutu that has a lot of flair use the 6-inch cut, for a softer look use the 3-inch cut. For ribbon make sure you have a good length on both sides of tutu to tie into a bow at the end.

Step three Below: How to tie the strips of tulle onto your ribbon or elastic. Fold one piece of tulle in half lining up the ends they don't have to be perfect, it will add interest. Make a "U" that peeps over the top of the the ribbon then with the remaining tulle below pull it over the top of the ribbon and thru the "U". Pull thru and down to make a knot. Sometimes I use a sliding motion over the satin ribbon once I have the tulle pulled thru to get a tighter knot giving the tutu more body and flair. Elastic is a little different you have to be careful not to yank on it because it takes the elasticity out, this is why you should wait to sew the ends together because the size of the elastic can be altered during the knotting process.

(Another way to pull tulle thru, it's just the upside-down version of the way I have done it above)

The knot should look like this.

Now your on your way to creating that fabulous tutu. I would set out your colors in front of you for easy access and watch your tutu grow into something amazing. Tutu shown is 6-inches in length when finished.

I love creating these tutu's they are easy and look really cool after you are done. Nothing like quick and easy and a great way to relax the mind:) I hope this helps anyone who wanted to make a tutu. If you have any questions please leave a comment and I'll do my best to answer it.

CuPcAkeS EvErYwHeRe!!

Redding CA's local cupcake boutique called "Sweetspot" will be selling our Cupcake Aprons. They are a modern trendy cupcake boutique that caters to children and adults alike. They serve up scrumptious cupcakes and delicious Gelati that will leave you wanting for more. When they first said they were interested in selling our aprons we naturally went with cupcake fabrics. The ones not shown are blue with larger whimsical cupcakes and the other one is a variation of the pink apron shown except it comes in a wonderful green. There will be a couple versions at first and we have come to a decision that the rest of the aprons will probably have a brown or red contrast material down the middle of the apron, pockets, kneck loop and ties. We're thinking something with polka dots if anyone knows how much we love them! These aprons have a great fit and I have to say the smaller versions are to cute to pass up! Of course everything that is made tiny seems to be cuter no matter what:)

Whether it be on an apron or in ones mouth, who doesn't love a good cupcake?

I originally thought I was going to make a couple of dish towels for a giveaway and then realized there was enough material to make an apron(I'm still doing a giveaway just after I exhaust all my options with this new design). I've had this dancing around in my head for a couple months. I wanted it to look like a skirt, something pretty but functional as well. I'm working on a pocket to go with this and I think it is missing another element to make it more interesting. I am open for suggestions:) My favorite part is the extra wide ties in the back. This Mod Apron Skirt is fully lined to make sure nothing gets on your real clothes.

Messenger Bag

This is a great bag for anyone who totes a lot of supplies either for themselves or baby:) The one shown that I have made for personal use has been created with wool and popular designer fabrics. Great as a diaper bag it holds the folding changing pad in the back pocket for easy access and the diapers and wipes in the front two pockets. Plenty of room in the main part of the bag for an extra change of clothes, beverages, Snacks, lotions, ointments etc... This bag also can fit a laptop, School and Church supplies and much, much more. The top flap easily fastens shut with a ribbon that loops around a vintage button. I plan to redraft it and make a shorter but wider bag with three pockets in the front. My thought process was to add another easy access pocket for a beverage and a different but similar look to the overall bag with the same amount of storage. I may even make the strap adjustable as well. It's a work in progress:)

Fun In the Sun

We hope to launch these cute affordable halter tops before Summer of '09. They come from a vintage pattern and will be made from vintage fabrics (we may decide to use modern fabrics as well). Elastic is used in the back of the top to make dressing and undressing a success. Great for the beach or any spring/summer outing. The tops will run from around $10-15 all dependent on the fabrics used. We are also planning to pair these tops with either shorts or bloomers which will cost an extra $8-10. We are open to use any fabric(s) our customers would like their top or bottoms to be made of as long as the fabric is available.

The pictures shown below are of my daughter wearing her halter top made of vintage fabric with a pair of linen pants from The GAP. It was chilly out so the shorts sadly stayed in the dresser:)
